Max Verstappen’s Formula 1 career is already filled with records and remarkable achievements. Unfortunately for his rivals, the Dutchman is still only 28 years old, meaning he has several more seasons of racing at the highest level ahead of him. At this pace, as long as “Super Max” remains in Formula 1, no record appears to be safe.
In Brazil, Max Verstappen delivered another extraordinary performance, securing a podium finish despite starting from the pit lane — becoming only the eighth driver in F1 history to achieve such a feat. In the land of Ayrton Senna, the Red Bull driver was celebrated like “Magic.” However, in terms of personality and driving style, Max Verstappen perhaps more closely resembles Michael Schumacher. That’s the view of someone who knew the German legend extremely well — his former manager, Willi Weber.
Weber’s thoughts on Verstappen and Schumacher
Speaking to f1-insider, Weber drew a direct comparison between Max Verstappen and the seven-time world champion, emphasizing a key trait they share in their approach to the sport: “Both sacrificed themselves 100% for their success, dedicating their entire lives to Formula 1. They’re not glamorous types who live for show business. They were and are athletes, not Hollywood stars. Their achievements have always been in service of the sport.”
Having witnessed Michael Schumacher’s human side up close, Weber also highlighted the differences between the two: “Max is a more instinctive driver, who makes decisions with his heart — and he’s almost always right. Michael did everything in a calculated way; every move was measured.” – he concluded.
