Adrian Newey at work for 2026, Stroll excited: “He’s in a trance”
The final 10 races of the 2025 Formula 1 season could feel like a long ‘appetizer’ for Aston Martin, as the team focuses on next year. It is no secret that the Silverstone squad is placing all its bets on the new technical regulations coming into effect in 2026. To that end, Aston Martin has hired Adrian Newey, the most decorated and successful designer in F1 history. A highly talked-about signing, whose impact will only be visible next season due to his gardening leave, which ended in March of this year.
Adrian Newey is in a trance
At Zandvoort, Lance Stroll spoke with journalists, clearly expressing his eagerness to finally get behind the wheel of a car designed by the former Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull engineer. “Adrian is currently in a kind of trance and is completely focused on designing next year’s car. He has been doing this for a very long time and has won more championships than anyone else in this paddock, so I think that says it all,” the team owner’s son remarked with satisfaction.
Impossible not to smile
Lance Stroll then explained the significant impact Newey has had within the British team, which is finally aiming to reach the top of Formula 1: “Why am I smiling? I think there aren’t many reasons not to smile when Adrian Newey is designing your car for next year, so it’s a very exciting moment. I believe he is extremely passionate and enthusiastic about the new rules. It’s fantastic to see how much passion, focus, and commitment he puts into it.”
“Being in a new environment, in a new team, he is simply motivating everyone and creating a healthier culture throughout the factory. It’s really amazing to witness,” Stroll continued, expressing also his curiosity about the new collaboration with Honda, which will replace Mercedes as the team’s power unit supplier. “This is very exciting as well. All the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place, and it’s an exciting moment for us as a team,” the Canadian added.
