Alpine could be acquired in 2026, but not by Andretti – REPORT. Alpine could be acquired by HitechGP in 2026..

Alpine F1 team, 2024

Alpine could be acquired by HitechGP in 2026.

An uncertain future
This rumor was recently shared by the British outlet Formula Nerds, stating that the team founded by Dennis Rushen and David Hayle, like Andretti, has not given up on its Formula 1 dream and is now looking for alternative ways to enter the series after being rejected by the FIA.

Hitech was one of the four projects immediately dismissed by the federation at the end of last year, causing outrage and dismay among the team’s leadership. The British team, then led by Oliver Oakes (now Team Principal at Alpine), believed it had all the necessary credentials to aspire to F1 promotion, with a project even better than Andretti’s.

In addition to the legal disputes with the American giant, the federation also had to deal, as reported by English journalist Joe Saward last September, with another lawsuit filed by Hitech.

Through a confidential arbitration process, Hitech is said to have received a substantial compensation for the rejection, although the case did not receive much media attention.

Despite the official partnership with Mercedes starting in 2026 and the ambitious plans of Flavio Briatore, who has already made significant changes to the team’s organizational structure, the future of the French team remains uncertain. The rumor should be taken with caution, as neither Hitech nor Alpine have commented on the speculation (for now).

What is certain is that, if the rumors are confirmed and Hitech were to indeed replace Alpine, Oliver Oakes would obviously remain firmly in the chain of command.
