During the Super Bowl, the American team unveiled the livery it will use during the 2026 season for its Formula 1 debut, signaling ambitions that are nothing short of… lunar. The car features an asymmetric design, with one side white and the other black. At the wheel will be Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez.
“We chose to go to the Moon. We chose to go to the Moon this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…” Cadillac has chosen to launch its Formula 1 adventure by echoing John F. Kennedy’s words on the Moon mission, symbolizing an ambitious and visionary challenge.
This is a journey starting truly from zero, a climb that requires time, method, and determination, because what awaits Cadillac is a challenge in the fullest sense. In a way, this lunar reference also returns in the asymmetric livery shown during the Super Bowl: a visual play between the visible and hidden side of our satellite.
The American brand’s car, whose name has not yet been revealed, will race with a “two-faced” livery: the left side in a light grayish white, the right side completely black. This approach inevitably recalls the 1999 BAR, with its famous contrast of red and white on one side and blue and yellow on the other, designed to accommodate different sponsorship needs.
Few partners are visible on the livery for now, as Cadillac chose to debut without a title sponsor. TWG, the company that owns the team, appears on the sidepods, while the IFS logo on the rear wing endplates refers to a Swedish software company. Driver-related sponsors are also present, including Claro, a long-standing partner of Sergio Pérez. Finally, the nose features the Tommy Hilfiger brand, along with several smaller logos.
“This livery represents much more than a color scheme; it represents who we are and what we bring to Formula 1. Every detail is intentional: bold, modern, and unmistakably American, while respecting the heritage and precision that define this sport,” said CEO Dan Towriss.
“Choosing to reveal our first race livery during the Super Bowl and in the heart of Times Square is a way to present our identity to the world, at the intersection of performance, culture, and entertainment, and to connect with fans far beyond the paddock.”
Both Pérez and teammate Valtteri Bottas return to the grid this season after spending 2025 away from racing. Together, they have collected 16 wins, 23 pole positions, and an impressive total of 106 podiums, with the Finnish driver responsible for most of these results during his five years with Mercedes. Now, a new adventure begins for both of them.
Cadillac’s decision to debut with such a distinctive, asymmetric livery highlights the team’s desire to disrupt the status quo as they enter the 2026 Formula 1 season. By drawing parallels to the Apollo moon landings, the American outfit is leaning into its heritage of innovation while acknowledging the steep learning curve that comes with being the grid’s 11th team. The choice of Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez provides a necessary technical anchor for the project, ensuring that the bold visual identity of the car is matched by proven race-winning experience. Cadillac’s presence in F1 is a statement of global ambition, aiming to bridge the gap between high-performance motorsport and mainstream American culture. The 2026 season will serve as the first true test of whether this “lunar” mission can translate into consistent results at the pinnacle of racing.
