McLaren back on top with Lando Norris
McLaren has finally achieved its goal, returning to the pinnacle of Formula 1 after 17 years since Lewis Hamilton’s title. The new champion Lando Norris has become a symbol of the team’s renaissance, alongside key figures like race director Andrea Stella and CEO Zak Brown.
Zak Brown spoke with pride about McLaren’s journey from being the slowest team on the grid at the start of 2023 to celebrating victory in Abu Dhabi. Zak Brown also expressed confidence that Oscar Piastri, despite some mistakes in the latter part of the season partly due to inexperience at the highest level, will be a central figure in future success.
Zak Brown’s words
Brown told Sky Sports F1 that last year they concluded the championship chasing Ferrari, one of the most iconic teams, and he emphasized how exciting it is to compete against top rivals. He described Red Bull as an exceptional team, with Max Verstappen as an incredible driver, noting that beating them requires giving everything on track.
He said that Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri make a “dream team,” praising the extraordinary work of everyone at McLaren. Brown admitted that the team had faced challenges with the so-called “papaya rules,” but stressed that both drivers are worthy of being champions.
Zak Brown added that McLaren wants to race hard but fairly, acknowledging the potential risks involved, and said he couldn’t be happier for the drivers. He also revealed his excitement at the prospect of celebrating a Formula 1 title with Oscar Piastri in the future, following the success with Lando Norris.
With Norris now crowned 2025 world champion, Zak Brown’s declaration makes it crystal clear: McLaren’s next mission is to deliver Oscar Piastri his own drivers’ title in the very near future.
