Lando Norris sealed his maiden Formula 1 world championship with a controlled third-place finish at the Abu Dhabi season finale at Yas Marina, finally etching his name into the history books after a roller-coaster 2025 campaign that tested the 26-year-old Briton to his absolute limits.
As soon as he climbed out of the McLaren, an emotional Norris was enveloped in hugs from the people who matter most – his parents, brother, and girlfriend – tears flowing freely after years of near-misses finally turned into the ultimate prize.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1 just moments after watching his son become world champion, a visibly moved Adam Norris shared the raw emotions he experienced during those tense final laps under the Abu Dhabi lights.
Adam Norris’ exact words
“My heart was pounding from the very first second – I was already thinking about what might happen at Turn 1,” Adam told Sky Sports F1.
“I knew he would do his job because that’s what he does in races. I’m used to watching him, but this is the first race I’ve ever watched completely alone and in silence. The very first time something like this happened was when he won the karting title – back then I only watched the final five laps. Here I watched the whole thing calmly, by myself, trying to take in every emotion quietly.
“In a race like this you’re always thinking something could still go wrong on the very last lap, so you can never be sure. Anything can happen – a late Safety Car, anything.”
With the title now secured, Adam Norris finally allowed the magnitude of the moment to sink in – a proud father witnessing his son achieve the dream they had shared since those early karting days.
