Luke Browning to replace Carlos Sainz
Luke Browning, currently third in the Formula 2 championship, 27 points behind leader Leonardo Fornaroli with two rounds still to go, will be on track in FP1 at the Mexican Grand Prix driving for Williams. He will take the wheel from Carlos Sainz to comply with the regulation that allows two free practice sessions per year for young drivers.
Browning excited for the opportunity
“I’m really grateful for another chance to drive in a free practice session with Williams and to test the FW47 for the second time,” Browning said. “I’ve prepared as much as possible for this session so I can make the most of this fantastic opportunity and help the team plan the race weekend. I can’t wait to get back in an F1 car and I’m truly thankful to everyone at the Driver Academy and Williams for the trust and support they’ve given me.”
Williams comments on Browning
“Luke has had an excellent season in Formula 2 so far, consistently showing strong pace across a wide range of circuits and race conditions,” added Williams sporting director Sven Smeets. “He has continued to support the team through simulator work and the TPC program, preparing as best as possible for his upcoming FP1 session. We look forward to seeing him on track in Mexico as he continues to gain experience as a Williams Racing Academy driver.”
