Will Sebastian Vettel return to Formula 1? According to legendary F1 car designer Adrian Newey, it is very unlikely, despite the fact that in this ever-surprising driver market, the German’s name has come up multiple times regarding a potential comeback. Sauber/Audi seemed ready to welcome him into the project, spurred on by his former Ferrari team principal, Mattia Binotto.
Sebastian Vettel and the 24 Hours of Le Mans
In 2024, Sebastian Vettel carried out some tests with the Porsche 963 in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Up until the last moment, everything pointed to the possibility of the German being on track for one of the most important races on the planet. However, the limited number of tests prevented Sebastian Vettel from participating in the magnificent race of the World Endurance Championship, as the time he spent in the car was not enough for him to fully understand the Porsche.
His possible return and Adrian Newey’s opinion
Many Formula 1 fans devoted to Sebastian Vettel dream of his return to the top racing series. It is always exciting to see multiple world champions race again alongside the younger generation. However, despite the speculation, his return will not happen according to Adrian Newey.
Speaking on the High Performance Podcast, the newly hired Aston Martin car designer stated: “I don’t see his return as possible. He’s enjoying life and doing many things beyond racing.” – the British engineer pointed out.
With these words, Adrian Newey dismissed any chance of Sebastian Vettel’s Formula return, putting to rest all the recent rumors.
