Exactly 10 years ago, Max Verstappen made his first appearance in the world of Formula 1, debuting in the free practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix. From that moment on, his journey in motorsport changed significantly: let’s retrace it together up to today.
The first time is never forgotten
On October 3, 2014, a young Dutchman made his debut behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, driving for Toro Rosso through the challenging corners of Suzuka.
Since then, 10 years have passed, during which everyone has come to know that name: Max Verstappen. After moving to Red Bull in 2016, the driver has collected 61 wins, 40 pole positions, 32 fastest laps, and 109 podiums in 203 races.
If these numbers aren’t enough to describe his talent, here are just some of the records Max has set:
– The youngest driver to score points, lead a Grand Prix, set a fastest lap, achieve a podium, win a race, and achieve a grand slam (pole position, victory, fastest lap, and leading every lap of the race in the same weekend);
– Most podiums in a season, most wins in a season, most points in a season, most consecutive wins, most consecutive points finishes.
In short, the young boy who introduced himself at Suzuka 10 years ago has come a long way. And his story is far from over…
