Carlos Sainz aims for F1 title even without Ferrari: “I want it and soon”. Carlos Sainz still targets his dream of becoming F1 world champion.

Carlos Sainz, Ferrari 2024 F1

Current Scuderia Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz Jr is nearing the end of his time with the Maranello team. Starting in January, the Spanish driver will settle permanently at Grove, where he will be welcomed by Williams and will discover the car he will drive alongside Alex Albon during the 2025 Formula One season.

The iconic British team has been languishing in the lower part of the standings for some time. Although we can call it a team on the rise, 2025 will mostly be a transitional season for the team founded by Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head.

Carlos Sainz wants to win: “It has to happen, and soon”
However, during a conversation with the ‘Straits Times,’ the Spanish driver is undeterred by the circumstances. When asked if he might have made a wrong choice by joining a lower-ranked team, Carlos Sainz replied: “I believe I have the qualities to become world champion. So, if one day the right team gives me the right car at the right time, I think I’ll be able to win. I would like to become world champion as soon as possible,” – the Spaniard pointed out, as reported by the British media.

Carlos Sainz will try, then, even without Ferrari’s support. It likely won’t happen next year, as team principal James Vowles has often stated that the team’s intention is to sacrifice the 2025 Formula One championship in order to have better chances in 2026 with the introduction of the new regulations.

After that, all scenarios are possible and, at least on paper, equally likely.
