James Vowles snubs rivals: “Carlos Sainz – Alex Albon will be the best line up”. James Vowles feels that Williams, with Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon, will have the best driver pairing in 2025.

James Vowles, Williams team boss 2024

James Vowles has stated that Williams, with Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon, will have the best driver pairing for the 2025 Formula One season.

James Vowles’ comments
These are the statements made by the team principal on the podcast Beyond The Grid: “In 2025 we will have the best line-up on the grid. Franco [Colapinto, ed.] is doing a great job, but he doesn’t have the experience that Carlos Sainz brings with him.” – he pointed out – “I repeat, we will have the best driver pairing. Not just in terms of driving the car, but also in helping the team grow, which will motivate everyone,” he added.

Speaking about the car’s competitiveness, the Brit said: “Looking at performance, 2025 will be sacrificed to prioritize 2026: we’ve already been working on that car [for the new regulations, ed.] for 6 months, thinking about how and why to design it in a certain way.”

“I’ll give an example, even though it may seem unrealistic: if next year we were leading the championship after a few races, I still wouldn’t develop the car.” – he added – “Development is scheduled based on what you see in the wind tunnel, on the potential you can unlock. I think we will see the benefits in the future if we sacrifice 2025,” James Vowles concluded.
