Verstappen jokes about Lambiase: “His new dog Is called Max, at least there’s one that listens to him”. Max Verstappen’s race engineer has named his new dog Max.

Max Verstappen Jokes with Gianpiero Lambiase
Over the past two years, for different reasons, we’ve gotten to know Max Verstappen better while he’s behind the wheel of his Red Bull. In 2023, the Dutchman almost communicated and joked with his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, out of boredom. In some races of 2024, however, the four-time Formula 1 world champion has returned to his aggressive old self, even on the radio, to the point that Gianpiero Lambiase had to calm him down both on live broadcasts and off-camera.

Despite this, the engineer remains Max Verstappen’s right-hand man, and there’s no doubt about the complete synergy between them, both on and off the track, always with a touch of humor. The latest example comes from Max Verstappen himself, who commented on Gianpiero Lambiase’s new dog—named Max.

The Video
Max Verstappen mentioned it during a recent Twitch live stream, and when someone pointed out that the dog would probably be “more obedient,” the world champion jokingly replied: “I told him, at least now you have a Max that listens to you.”

Max Verstappen was a guest of his Team Redline over the weekend and shared some laughs with his sim racing teammates during the broadcast. The four-time champion is passionate about virtual racing and even uses it as “training” whenever the F1 schedule allows.
