F1, High Expectations for 2025
On paper, the 2025 season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent years. As with any season that concludes a regulatory cycle, teams are generally closer in performance than when new regulations are introduced. Considering that by the end of 2024, as many as four teams were competing for race wins at every Grand Prix, it is reasonable to expect 2025 to follow this trend.
Competitiveness may not only define the battle at the front but also the fight for top-10 finishes. Smaller teams—who have more to gain in terms of lap time than the top teams due to marginal improvements—could decide to shift their focus early to 2026 and allocate resources accordingly. Alex Albon is convinced that the season kicking off at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne will be the most competitive in Formula 1 history.
Alex Albon’s comments
“I think we saw just how close the grid was in the last Abu Dhabi GP. Some teams, like Alpine and Kick Sauber, introduced updates,” Alex Albon told the media.
“I believe this will be the tightest grid in Formula 1 history, and it’s going to be exciting. I don’t think we’ll be at the front, but considering how McLaren finished last year, it will be very interesting,” he continued. “I’d like us to take a step forward from last season, though it’s hard to quantify. I’d love to be fighting in the upper half of the midfield. We’ll see how intense the midfield battle will be this year—I think we’ll be closer to the top teams as well.”
