Valtteri Bottas has now added “barber” to his repertoire, showcasing his new pursuit with a dose of humor. Following his departure from Sauber just one season before Audi’s arrival, the former Mercedes driver has returned to Brackley as a reserve driver. Though no longer on the grid, his aim is to return to racing soon. In the meantime, he’s embraced self-irony on social media, even showcasing himself as a barber in a new video.
Leaving Formula 1 is never easy, but Valtteri Bottas seems to be taking it in stride. He has embraced this new chapter with the slogan “What’s next?”—a phrase that has now become a clothing brand. To promote his initiative, Valtteri Bottas has been sharing themed videos on social media, which have been warmly received by fans.
In his latest ad, Valtteri Bottas teases a career change for the Finnish driver often called “the most Australian Finn in the world.” Having stepped away from F1 cars, he humorously presents himself as a barber, inviting friends to his new studio to give them his signature blonde mullet. Of course, it’s all in good fun: Valtteri Bottas will serve as Mercedes’ third driver in 2025.
Not Just Valtteri Bottas: Other Veterans Without a Seat
Valtteri Bottas isn’t the only veteran making way for a new wave of young talent. Before the 2024 Formula One season concluded, Daniel Ricciardo bid farewell to the paddock and the Red Bull family. The Australian is now linked to Cadillac’s project, which is set to join the grid in 2026, though these are merely unconfirmed rumors for now.
Sergio Perez has also exited Formula 1, replaced at Milton Keynes by Liam Lawson. While Sergio Perez’s future remains uncertain, he is rumored to be eyeing a seat in Formula E. Meanwhile, Kevin Magnussen has opted for endurance racing, preparing to tackle the 24 Hours of Le Mans with BMW.
