The battle for the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship is reflected in the changing odds from bookmakers.
Continuous evolution
The outcome of the Mexican Grand Prix, with Lando Norris taking victory and claiming the championship lead, has significantly altered the landscape of the 2025 title fight. The two McLaren drivers are now separated by just one point, but the main challenger has become Oscar Piastri, who, after his controversial third place at Monza in early September, has not returned to the podium. Max Verstappen has also recovered some ground and now sits 36 points behind Norris with four races remaining.
Heading into the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend, these shifts in the standings are mirrored in the betting markets, which often serve as an interesting indicator of external perception regarding the championship battle. One might expect a close duel between Norris and Piastri with Verstappen further back, but it is actually the opposite. Norris is now the clear favorite, with odds ranging from 1.60 to 1.72 on the main betting sites, while the odds for Piastri and Verstappen are much closer together.
The Australian is listed between 3.20 and 3.50 to win the championship, while the defending champion – despite being 35 points behind – holds odds between 4.00 and 4.50. In short, even from the third position, Max Verstappen’s presence continues to intimidate the competition.
