“Sergio Perez will no longer drive a single meter in Red Bull, won’t even finish the season”. Ralf Schumacher believes Sergio Perez will no longer driver for Red Bull amid poor performances.

Sergio Perez, 2024 F1

According to Ralf Schumacher, Sergio Perez will be dismissed from Red Bull even before the end of the 2024 Formula 1 championship.

Sergio Perez’s journey with Red Bull seems to have reached its end. Not even the home atmosphere in Mexico was enough to boost the Guadalajara native, who was once again eliminated in Q1 during qualifying.

Things didn’t improve on Sunday, with Checo falling victim to a contact with Liam Lawson in the early laps, resulting in significant damage to the floor and sidepods. With a compromised car, the Mexican stayed on track out of pride, but finished the race in seventeenth position.

“Formula 1 is a performance-based business,” Christian Horner commented after the Mexico City Grand Prix at the 4.304-kilometre Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, hinting at an imminent split with Sergio Perez. “There comes a time when difficult decisions must be made.” – the Red Bull team principal pointed out.

Ralf Schumacher also believes the Mexican will not be on the grid in 2025 and may even be sidelined before the 2024 Formula 1 season ends: “He won’t drive a single meter next year, I’m quite certain. I don’t even think he’ll finish the season.” – he added. – “Red Bull will make a decision after this weekend. There’s no point in any of this anymore, for either side, not even for Perez. He’s under pressure and won’t go home beaming with joy. It should be enjoyable. And above all, from a financial standpoint, this is a disaster for the team, not just for the mechanics. If they want to counter Ferrari now, they need to make changes quickly.” – the former Formula 1 driver concluded at the end of the Mexico City Grand Prix.

With only Max Verstappen effectively contributing, Red Bull has also lost second place in the Constructors’ Championship to Scuderia Ferrari ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, now trailing the Scuderia by 25 points and McLaren by 54.
