Sergio Perez is once again making headlines for a possible return to F1 just two months after his departure from Red Bull. According to *RacingNews365*, the Mexican driver is currently in negotiations with the Cadillac F1 project, which aims to join the Formula 1 grid for the 2026 season.
The Cadillac F1 project, backed by General Motors, is currently working to obtain official approval from Formula One Management (FOM) and the FIA. While the team has yet to receive the green light, developments suggest their entry into F1 is moving in the right direction. In a strategic move, Cadillac has already signed a two-year engine supply deal with Ferrari.
Cadillac F1 Project: Target 2026
With six Grand Prix victories and over 14 years of experience in Formula 1, Sergio Perez is seen as a strong candidate for Cadillac’s driver lineup. His familiarity with F1 and his ability to deliver results in races make him an attractive option for a new team looking to establish itself in such a competitive environment.
It also appears that the former Red Bull driver himself has reached out to Cadillac, expressing his desire to continue his racing career. Currently, negotiations between Sergio Perez and the Cadillac F1 project are ongoing. Although the situation remains uncertain, it is clear that both parties are interested in moving forward.
However, any potential deal will depend on the final confirmation of Cadillac’s participation in the 2026 season by F1’s governing bodies. Meanwhile, Cadillac is rapidly expanding, having already hired over 300 people and begun discussions with various suppliers for essential components. Nevertheless, the lack of official confirmation regarding their entry means that any agreement with Sergio Perez could take time.
