Lawson and AT&T ready to take over
It now seems like a matter of days, if not hours. Sergio Perez’s journey with Red Bull has reached its conclusion after four overall positive years, to the point that, after just a few races in 2024, he was confirmed for 2025. However, the contract renewal did not give Checo the boost Red Bull’s management had hoped for—in fact, quite the opposite.
Sergio Perez’s performance collapsed, partly due to technical challenges with the RB20, which had ceased to be the grid’s benchmark by midseason. The very few points Sergio Perez scored since Miami made it impossible for Red Bull to defend their Constructors’ Championship title. Helmut Marko and Christian Horner have decided to replace Max Verstappen’s “wingman,” with the announcement of Liam Lawson’s promotion alongside the four-time world champion expected soon.
Sergio Perez brought valuable sponsorships to Red Bull, especially from the Mexican telecommunications giant Telcel. The company recently shared a thank-you poster on social media for the four years spent together, a post strongly suggesting the end of the Sergio Perez-Telcel relationship with Red Bull. The team is reportedly set to expand its partnership with the U.S.-based AT&T.
