Kimi Antonelli involved in a road accident: how he is and what happened to the Mercedes driver
Kimi Antonelli was involved in a road accident while driving his Mercedes. According to initial reports, the crash occurred late on Saturday night, when the young Formula 1 driver was at the wheel of a high-displacement car. Based on the first available information, the vehicle had a 4,000 cc engine and belonged to Kimi Antonelli himself.
There were moments of fear for the Mercedes driver, who fortunately emerged completely unscathed from the car. This was confirmed by Mercedes in an official press release, which clarified the circumstances of the incident and reassured fans about Kimi Antonelli’s condition:
“On Saturday evening, near his home in San Marino, Kimi was involved in a road traffic accident. The police attended the scene after being called by Kimi. His was the only vehicle involved and, although the car sustained damage, Kimi was completely unharmed.”
According to the first investigations, the powerful car driven by the 19-year-old from Bologna was involved in a serious accident during the night near the junction with Via Ranco, close to the Electronics area, in the Castello di Serravalle district. Investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact dynamics of the crash, which, it should be emphasized once again, had no physical consequences for Kimi Antonelli.
According to Il Resto del Carlino, the collision occurred when the car struck a road sign pole on the right-hand side of the road leading towards San Marino. Following the initial impact, the vehicle was thrown towards the center of the road, where it hit the central guardrail twice before finally coming to a stop against a retaining wall on the opposite side.
Officers from the Civil Police arrived at the scene to reconstruct the incident, identifying a trajectory of approximately 144 meters. This detail suggests that the Mercedes driven by Kimi Antonelli was traveling at a very high speed at the moment of the accident. Further checks are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances of the crash.
While the high-speed nature of the accident in San Marino is concerning, the most important outcome is that Kimi Antonelli escaped without injury. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with high-performance machinery, even for those with world-class driving skills. As the Italian driver prepares to head to Bahrain for pre-season testing, both the team and his fans will likely be relieved that this off-track scare ended with only mechanical damage, allowing the young Italian to maintain his focus on the upcoming 2026 Formula 1 season.
