Red Bull-Ford partnership begins: Max Verstappen drives the Mustang Dark Horse. Max Verstappen stars in a new commercial created by Ford.

‘Debut’ for Max Verstappen
Recently, the world of Formula 1 has understandably been ‘captivated’ by the historic images of Lewis Hamilton driving a Ferrari for the first time. However, the nemesis of the seven-time world champion, Max Verstappen, also had his own debut, though not of comparable importance.

The Dutchman took to the track for the first time behind the wheel of a Ford—a Mustang Dark Horse—filming a commercial for the American brand. The video is significant because it represents the first public and tangible sign of the new partnership between Red Bull and Ford.

A bit of Italy
Starting in 2026, the Michigan giant will be partnering with the Milton Keynes team in the name of the new power unit, which will be renamed Red Bull Ford Powertrains. The American brand’s involvement will mainly be in terms of image, and in practical terms, it will focus on the area of electrification, but it will still mark a significant departure from the past.

Until the end of this season, the engine partner for Christian Horner‘s team has been and remains Honda. Lastly, a fun fact: the video featuring the four-time world champion was filmed on an Italian track. The location for the shoot was the Tazio Nuvolari Circuit, located in the municipality of Cervesina, in the province of Pavia.
