Formula 1 races aren’t always the most important thing for Max Verstappen. The four-time world champion has revealed a unique aspect of his routine, highlighting his dedication to an activity many might consider just a hobby for a driver of his caliber.
Everyone knows Max isn’t just Red Bull’s top driver but also an active competitor in the virtual racing world. The Dutchman has participated in numerous prestigious online events, including the 24 Hours of Daytona, held recently, though it didn’t go particularly well for him.
Max Verstappen: “I Follow Virtual Races Until the Last Moment I Can”
Taking part in such events might seem like a pastime to many, but for Max Verstappen, it’s certainly more than that. When asked about the activities he engages in before getting behind the wheel of his Red Bull, he responds: “I try to relax, and virtual racing does that perfectly. If there’s an event during our weekends, I still try to follow it until the very last moment I have,” he revealed during a Twitch stream with ‘TeamReadline,’ as reported by ‘GPBlog.com.’
Max Verstappen’s passion runs so deep that his team has had to scold him more than once after catching him gaming late into the night during race weekends. Many think virtual racing might distract him from F1, but the truth is quite the opposite—this is how the Dutchman stays focused.
