Despite significant interest from Mercedes and Aston Martin, the four-time World Champion has chosen to continue with the Milton Keynes team for at least another season. Verstappen wants to assess the on-track performance values before carefully evaluating all the options available to him.
Everything is already decided
As for his teammate, however, there is still no certainty about Helmut Marko’s choice. On Thursday in Lusail, we spoke with Isack Hadjar, one of the main contenders for the Red Bull seat. “In my opinion, this weekend will have very little impact on the final decision. Evaluating twenty-two or twenty-three races does not change anything. The average performance is what matters, and the decision is made based on that. So even if I have the worst weekend of my career, it wouldn’t change anything,” the Racing Bulls driver told GP-News.net.
These words come across as a promotion for the young French talent after an excellent first season in Formula 1. Following a major mistake on his debut in Australia, which earned criticism from Helmut Marko, Isack Hadjar has shown both speed and consistency — qualities that could have secured him a seat in Red Bull’s main team.
If Isack Hadjar is correct, the only thing left is the official press release next week, promoting one of the most exciting talents in the Red Bull junior programme straight into the seat alongside the reigning champion for 2026.
