Racing Bulls delivers its strongest Formula 1 weekend of 2026 at Silverstone
Another major step forward. That was the feeling inside the Racing Bulls garage after the team’s outstanding performance during the tenth round of the 2026 Formula 1 season at Silverstone. The Faenza-based outfit firmly established itself as the fifth-fastest team on the grid, converting its pace into an impressive sixth and seventh-place finish at the British Grand Prix.
The double points finish leaves Racing Bulls just one point behind Alpine in the Constructors’ Championship, and with the momentum built over the last few races, the team could launch a serious challenge for fifth place as early as the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.
Liam Lawson: “We could have been even stronger in qualifying”
“Six-seven.” That’s probably the simplest way to describe Racing Bulls’ British Grand Prix, borrowing one of social media’s most popular trends.
Jokes aside, the Faenza squad enjoyed its most complete weekend of the season, consistently running inside the top ten from the opening laps of practice all the way through Sunday’s race.
The achievement becomes even more impressive when considering how competitive the midfield has become. Behind Formula 1’s top teams, only a handful of positions remain realistically available, making every opportunity crucial. Silverstone offered Racing Bulls exactly that chance, especially with Kimi Antonelli, Max Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri all failing to score points.
“Obviously, when some of the top drivers don’t score points, bonus opportunities open up,” Liam Lawson said after the race. “A huge amount of credit goes to all the work the team has done to consistently keep us at the front of the midfield.”
The New Zealander also praised the pace of the VCARB throughout the weekend.
“Having a fast car obviously helps, and honestly we were really strong this weekend,” Lawson explained during the post-race media session. “I actually think we could have been even stronger in qualifying because we had a few issues. On Friday we weren’t far away from the front runners, whereas just a few races ago we were miles behind. We’ve definitely improved a lot, and I’m really enjoying putting in the work both on and off the track. We still have two races before the summer break, and I’d love to keep this momentum going.”
Lawson also credited the upgrade package introduced around the Canadian Grand Prix, which has transformed the team’s competitiveness over recent races.
“The upgrades we brought to Canada were really put to the test for the first time in Barcelona, particularly in the high-speed sections, and ever since then I’ve felt really comfortable with the car.”
Arvid Lindblad celebrates a memorable home Grand Prix
It was also a weekend to remember for Arvid Lindblad, who crossed the finish line in seventh place, matching his best result of the season after previously achieving the same position at the Monaco Grand Prix.
“I’m really happy to score points at my first home Grand Prix. Racing in front of my home crowd made the result even more special,” the British driver said after the chequered flag.
However, Lindblad admitted the race was far from straightforward:”We got off to a good start, but after battling wheel-to-wheel with Max through Turn 3, I experienced some problems with energy deployment that prevented me from holding my position. It was a little frustrating, but once again it was a fantastic team result, and it’s incredible to keep this positive momentum going.”
Although disappointed that he couldn’t continue fighting directly with a Red Bull, Lindblad’s comments reflected the growing confidence he now has in Racing Bulls’ package.
Like his teammate, he also highlighted the importance of the recent upgrades.
“I think that since we introduced the upgrades in Canada we’ve had an even more competitive package, so all the credit goes to the team’s hard work,” the Briton concluded.
Alan Permane praises a weekend that was “close to perfection”
Racing Bulls Team Principal Alan Permane could hardly have been happier with the outcome of the British Grand Prix weekend.
“Another weekend that was close to perfection,” he said after the race.
Permane explained that virtually every aspect of the team’s execution had gone according to plan: “Our strategy was in exactly the right window, our race pace was excellent, and we put ourselves in a position to maximize everything that happened ahead of us during the race. Everyone performed at a very high level, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see all the hard work translated into results.”
Looking ahead, the Team Principal stressed that there is still plenty of work to do before Formula 1 reaches its summer break.
“We’ve completed four races in quick succession, and there are still two more before the summer shutdown. We hope we can repeat this level of performance at Spa.”
With confidence growing, recent upgrades delivering exactly as hoped, and both drivers extracting the maximum from the VCARB package, Racing Bulls heads to Belgium carrying significant momentum. If the team’s recent form continues, overtaking Alpine in the Constructors’ Championship could become a reality sooner rather than later.
