F2 and F3 are the stepping stones to F1, the categories where a young driver’s dream can either break or take off. Arvid Lindblad has been making a name for himself, and when looking at F1, he identifies with Lewis Hamilton.
The seven-time world champion has made history in the sport for various reasons. His achievements speak for themselves: he holds the record for the most pole positions and race wins in F1 and is tied with Michael Schumacher for the most world titles.
This makes him a role model for young drivers who grew up hearing the British anthem play on most Sundays for many years. But that’s not the only reason Arvid Lindblad admires the number 44 driver.
Since joining F1, Lewis Hamilton has also become known for his human side. Like Sebastian Vettel, he has often stood up for his beliefs. One example is his efforts alongside fellow drivers to fight against racism.
It is precisely because of Lewis’s character off the track that Arvid supports Lindblad him and sees himself in him.
“I have always felt a connection with Lewis. Obviously, being a man of color when I started watching Formula 1, he was the only one.”
“For some reason, I also thought it was cool that he started racing in Formula 1 in 2007, and I was born in 2007! To be honest, I have always felt very close to him and, as you said, when I really started following the sport, he was the one dominating and winning.”
