The CEO of Racing Bulls highlights the talent of Isack Hadjar: discussions soon for a Red Bull seat in 2026
The young French driver from the Faenza-based team is proving to be perhaps the most impressive rookie of the current Formula 1 season. Negotiations for the second seat at Red Bull Racing for the 2026 season are expected to begin soon, and Isack Hadjar could emerge as the leading contender. Meanwhile, Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer is enjoying watching his French driver’s growth and development.
The season began with an incident that quickly sparked debate: during the formation lap at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, Hadjar made an error that went viral within minutes, drawing public criticism from Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko. However, the young driver soon responded on track by showcasing his raw speed, racecraft, and ability to deliver increasingly consistent performances weekend after weekend.
The future of Hadjar
As Peter Bayer pointed out, Hadjar is among the possible candidates to take over the Red Bull seat currently held by Japanese driver in 2026. Yuki Tsunoda’s recent performances have fallen short of expectations, which opens the door for Hadjar to seize a significant career opportunity in the near future.
Peter Bayer explained that talks regarding 2026 will likely begin shortly after the summer break, but emphasised that there is no intention to rush the process: in 2025, the priority will be to allow Hadjar to continue developing. Bayer noted that the goal is to give the French driver the time and space to mature, stating that the focus for the coming year is on growth rather than immediate promotion.
According to Bayer, Hadjar’s greatest strength lies in his pure driving ability. He believes the team will witness great things from the rookie, highlighting his strong work ethic, constant curiosity, and determination to improve. The CEO also described him as a good person with a solid character, but stressed that he needs a full year of experience in Formula 1 with Racing Bulls to fully adapt to the category. Within the team, there is a shared consensus that taking this measured approach is the right path for Hadjar’s career trajectory.
