Pirelli has concluded the second day of testing at the Magny Cours circuit, which hosted the French Grand Prix for 18 editions from 1992 to 2008. The sole tire supplier in F1 continued developing tires for 2025 thanks to collaboration with Mercedes.
Mick Schumacher, the reserve driver for the team, was behind the wheel of the W15 yesterday, but he had to deal with inclement weather that severely affected the work schedule, as heavy rain made the track nearly unmanageable. As a result, Mick was only able to complete a few laps (29 in total, with a best time of 1:39.072).
Today, George Russell took over, and although he faced difficult weather conditions, they were not as prohibitive as yesterday’s. Intermittent rain, accompanied by relatively low temperatures, led the Bicocca engineers to develop extreme and intermediate wet tires.
At the end of the day, George Russell completed 85 laps, totaling 374.9 kilometers, with his fastest time being 1:28.428.
Pirelli’s development tests will continue next week, on Tuesday the 8th and Wednesday the 9th, at the Mugello Circuit, where three teams will participate: Red Bull and Ferrari will focus on tires for the upcoming season, while McLaren will be the second team to assist the Formula 1 Global Tyre Supplier in developing the 2026 tires with a mule car.
