What the World Championship leader said
Oscar Piastri was among the drivers in the FIA press conference ahead of the Imola GP, which he enters as the World Championship leader with 4 wins from 6 races and a 16-point lead over teammate Lando Norris. Here’s what he said:
Crowds in Brisighella
“I went to collect the Bandini award, a unique experience, especially because of how many fans I met — and I’m not even a Ferrari driver. It was very special.”
McLaren the team to beat
“What we’re experiencing is very rewarding. Winning is great, but doing it consistently and because you’ve worked for it feels completely different compared to when you win thanks to some fortunate circumstances.”
Dominance in Miami
“We knew Miami could be a particularly favourable track for us, and that turned out to be the case. Already in Melbourne in the wet, we had a significant advantage over the competition, and in Miami, thanks also to the high temperatures, we were able to fully exploit our strengths.”
Why Imola won’t be another Miami
“The track is totally different — extremely fast, it’ll be colder, and the asphalt is definitely much rougher. I expect our rivals to be much closer, and in any case, they were ahead of us in qualifying even in Miami.”
