Christian Horner officially leaves Red Bull after 20 years
The farewell is official
It’s official. Christian Horner is leaving Red Bull today, September 22, 2025, after an incredible 20 years. The British team principal will serve a nine-month gardening leave and has received a severance package of £52 million, approximately €60 million. Before next summer, he will be able to negotiate with a new team.
Words from Mintzlaff
These were the words of Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments at the Red Bull Group, in the statement marking the end of an extraordinary era, following Horner’s removal from his position in early July as Laurent Mekies moved from Racing Bulls to Red Bull to take over the substantial responsibilities left by Horner.
“We would like to thank Christian for his exceptional work over the past 20 years. With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise, and innovative thinking, he has played a decisive role in making Red Bull Racing one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1. Thank you for everything, Christian; you will always remain an important part of our team’s history.”
