Good recovery for Haas in Baku with both drivers
Close to the points
After his collision with Carlos Sainz in Monza and the penalty points added to his Super Licence, Oliver Bearman was called to deliver an error-free race at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The British driver, who made his Haas debut at the Baku circuit last year, did just that. Starting from 15th on the grid, the former Ferrari Driver Academy driver maintained his position until the pit stop, switching from hard to medium tires.
From that moment, the Ferrari junior mounted a solid recovery that brought him up to 12th place, the same position he achieved at the last Italian GP: “It was a good race because overall we had a solid comeback and good pace,” he said. “I started 15th but lost a few positions at the restart with the safety car. After that, I was stuck behind other cars in the first stint, and from then on it was just about limiting the damage. The car was fast, but there was nothing more we could do.” – the British driver pointed out at the end of the Baku Grand Prix weekend
Esteban Ocon’s strategy
Esteban Ocon also produced a good recovery, finishing 14th after a start affected by a collision with Nico Hülkenberg. During the Safety Car for Piastri’s incident, the French driver pitted twice, staying on hard tires until the checkered flag: “It was a good start, and we tried a really aggressive strategy. It’s a bit unfortunate from that point of view, but we’ll analyze it. It was a tough weekend for us, and there are many things to improve for the next race, which we will aim to do in Singapore. We need a weekend without setbacks or issues, which is what we all hope for.”
