Not everyone is against Red Bull: former F1 driver feels blame lies with Liam Lawson himself. Liam Lawson’s premature departure has attracted many criticisms of Red Bull.

Liam Lawson, Red Bull, 2025 F1

Liam Lawson’s departure from Red Bull after just two races left many in the paddock speechless. No one expected such a sudden and early change, especially since it came after only two races into the season.

Adding to this, the fact that the RB21 seems to be anything but an easy car to drive, the feeling is that the “new” driver of VCARB deserved a bit more time. But as we know, Helmut Marko has accustomed us to such sudden twists, and even in the start of 2025, he wanted to honor what had been done in the past.

Everyone on Liam Lawson’s side… or almost
Despite many openly supporting Liam Lawson, some believe that the New Zealand driver himself is primarily responsible for his departure from Red Bull. “Right now, his reputation is not good. He’s very arrogant. A bit of arrogance is needed, but when you’re arrogant, you have to perform,” said Juan Pablo Montoya to Vision4Sport. “You need to bring results. For him, it was definitely a tough blow.”

“Right now, I think the Mexicans are really happy since Lawson gave Sergio Perez the middle finger in Mexico. And now, with the same car as Checo, he’s performing worse. For Liam, it’s been a humiliating experience,” added the former driver.

“If he manages not to panic and stay focused, I think he can do very well in VCARB,” he concluded.
