Kimi Antonelli aims for first F1 victory before season ends
Kimi Antonelli achieved a remarkable second place at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The young Italian impressed by even holding off the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, showing maturity beyond his years.
As expected, this podium has boosted the Mercedes driver’s confidence. Kimi Antonelli stated that winning a Grand Prix before the end of the season is “absolutely feasible,” provided the team can replicate the performance shown in Brazil.
A tough challenge, but not impossible
“Obviously, we need to take the final step. It would be fantastic to get the first victory before the end of the season. We know it won’t be easy, but if we continue on this path and manage to get the best out of the car, it’s absolutely achievable,” Kimi Antonelli said.
Mercedes has shown strong progress in recent races, with clear improvements in car performance. However, securing a win remains challenging, particularly with the ongoing fight for the drivers’ championship. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will push hard in the remaining races and won’t give up the top spot easily.
“We maximized the performance [in Brazil], and that’s the most we could have asked for. Additionally, we gained many points for the Constructors’ Championship, so we just need to keep performing at this level,” he added.
Whether Kimi manages to claim a victory before the season concludes or not, the 19-year-old has undeniably demonstrated remarkable growth in his rookie F1 season, even finishing ahead of George Russell in both Mexico and Brazil.
