
However, by the Hungarian Grand Prix, Verstappen confirmed his commitment to Red Bull at least until 2026, extending his contract with the team through to 2028. Months later, when asked again about the summer talks, Wolff clarified: “We didn’t have too many major sporting issues. It was more [a discussion] on a personal level.”
Wolff on Verstappen’s championship chances
The Austrian team principal also commented on Verstappen’s chances of re-entering the World Championship fight after his recent wins in Monza and Baku reignited the title battle. The Dutch driver currently trails Lando Norris by 44 points and leader Oscar Piastri by 69 points.
According to Wolff, the path remains challenging, but nothing is impossible. Just a retirement from the leader and a victory from Verstappen could reopen the possibilities for the four-time world champion to compete for the championship once again.
