The strong connection between tradition and innovation raced through the streets of Trafalgar Square, where McLaren Racing hosted a uniquely British event to reveal its new “Legacy at Speed” livery. This special colour scheme was developed in partnership with long-time sponsor Google Chrome, in celebration of the team’s home race at the historic Silverstone Circuit.
The colours featured on the car are a modern reinterpretation of some of the most iconic liveries in McLaren’s history. For the 2025 British Grand Prix, the team from Woking has decided to refresh the collective memory of its fans by introducing a striking new design for the MCL39 that pays homage to the past while looking toward the future.
In front of an enthusiastic crowd of hundreds of fans gathered for the “McLaren Racing Live: London” event, the team unveiled a livery that bridges past and present. It is both a tribute to the legendary chrome liveries that once defined an entire era in Formula 1 and a symbol of modern digital speed, reflecting the performance values of Google Chrome.
This new visual identity tells a dual story of speed — both on the racetrack, where McLaren has earned its legendary status in the world of motorsport, and in the digital realm, where Chrome enables millions of users to explore McLaren’s racing culture through stories, iconic moments, and exclusive multimedia content.
Colours Rich in Historical Significance
Louise McEwen, Chief Marketing Officer of McLaren Racing, explained: “We have an incredible global fanbase, made up of both long-time supporters and newer enthusiasts. Through this special initiative with Google Chrome, we are able to share our heritage with a new generation of fans. Our goal is to bring them closer to the magic of Formula 1 and the McLaren brand.”
These sentiments were echoed by Adrienne Lofton, Vice President of Global Product and Integrated Marketing at Google, who added: “Bringing the energy of the paddock directly to fans in such a symbolic location like Trafalgar Square was an amazing experience. Chrome stands for speed and performance — values we proudly share with McLaren, both on and off the track.”
Now, all eyes turn to Silverstone, where the “Legacy at Speed” livery will make its competitive debut on the track — a place where McLaren’s storied past meets the promise of its future.
