F1 | Haas driver Oliver Bearman could face a race ban in Baku if he exceeds the points limit
There’s a former Ferrari driver at risk of a race ban in Baku, and for this reason, he has stated that he will avoid taking unnecessary risks. We had already touched on this topic at the end of the Monza weekend. One driver, formerly associated with Ferrari, arrives in Baku knowing that he could be penalized with a suspension if he accumulates points deemed punishable by race direction. The regulations set a maximum limit of twelve penalty points in twelve months, which, if exceeded, requires the driver to sit out a Grand Prix.
Currently, Oliver Bearman is on the edge, having reached ten points after the Monza event, putting him at risk of a potential ban in Azerbaijan. If the Haas driver were to commit serious infractions during free practice or qualifying in Baku, car number 87 could be forced to remain on the sidelines.
Oliver Bearman’s words ahead of the weekend
On Thursday in Baku, the topic of a possible suspension was one of the issues Oliver Bearman addressed during the interviews that opened the race weekend. “Obviously, it’s something I’m thinking about, and it’s a shame to have reached this situation. At Silverstone, I made a serious mistake, but some of the penalty points were for particular incidents. I received a few in Monaco during the red flag even though I’m convinced I did my best to avoid a dangerous situation. For now, I can only wait for Brazil, where two points will be returned to me, even if this means I’ll have to ease off in borderline situations,” said the Haas driver.
