Lando Norris knows that consistency is the real key, and at the Hungarian Grand Prix, there is no room for mistakes
British Formula 1 driver Lando Norris approaches the Hungarian Grand Prix fully aware that these races could be decisive in determining the outcome of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship. He is determined not to miss this opportunity. Speaking to the media, including the editorial team of GP-News.net, Lando Norris explained that in this crucial stage of the Formula 1 season, outright speed is no longer the most important factor. Instead, consistency has become the defining element for achieving strong results on a regular basis.
“I believe it is more about being consistent,” said Lando Norris. “It’s not about being the fastest driver out there, but about extracting the maximum performance from the car every single race weekend. That is exactly what I am trying to do now.”
The British driver also commented on his team-mate Oscar Piastri, who is currently leading the Drivers’ Championship standings:
“Oscar Piastri is definitely one of the most talented young drivers on the Formula 1 grid. Sometimes all it takes is starting from the front row to dictate the pace of the entire race. And in this part of the championship, every single grid position becomes crucial.”
Lando Norris reflects on the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, where things did not go according to plan
Lando Norris also looked back on his performance at the Belgian Grand Prix held at Spa-Francorchamps, a race where various factors prevented him from achieving a better result:
“I locked up at Turn 1 and had a slow pit stop. On top of that, an incorrect battery setting gave Oscar Piastri a small but valuable advantage. When you add all those little issues together, it cost me several seconds. I’ve realised that pushing the car to 100% isn’t always the right approach. Sometimes giving 95% can be enough to deliver a very strong result. The car’s behaviour this year is very different from what I was used to in the past. I’ve had to change the way I drive, but I really feel I’ve made significant progress.”
Norris now targets a win in Hungary to take the lead in the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship
In the current Formula 1 World Championship standings, there is a gap of just 16 points between McLaren team-mates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. At the moment, Oscar Piastri appears to be showing greater consistency compared to Norris, who still occasionally makes minor errors that affect his overall results. However, Lando Norris remains confident heading into the race weekend at the Hungaroring, a circuit he has always enjoyed racing at.
“I’ve had a great connection with Budapest since 2014. The fans here are incredibly passionate, the atmosphere is electric, and I really love driving on this track. It is a circuit that truly rewards precision, and I hope our car adapts well to it this weekend.”
