Fresh from his victory at the Austrian Grand Prix, McLaren driver Lando Norris is fully focused on achieving his first-ever win on home soil at the 2025 Formula 1 British Grand Prix. The young British star, currently sitting second in the Drivers’ Championship standings, is just 15 points behind his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. With the title race heating up, Lando Norris is determined not to give away even a single point to his closest rival—who also happens to be his teammate.
Despite the increasing rivalry between the two McLaren drivers, Lando Norris has called on the passionate British fans to support both him and Oscar Piastri equally during the race weekend at Silverstone. Lando Norris knows that in a battle as tight as this, consistency and precision will be key to claiming the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship.
“Whoever makes the fewest mistakes will win the championship,” Norris said, underlining the level of perfection required in the second half of the season.
McLaren brings back chrome with a special livery inspired by the past
To celebrate their home Grand Prix, the McLaren Formula 1 Team, based in Woking, will debut a special commemorative livery on their MCL39 car. The one-off design is a nod to the classic chrome liveries of McLaren’s past and also pays homage to the team’s partnership with Google Chrome, blending nostalgia with modern branding.
This unique livery adds an emotional and visual dimension to what is already a hugely significant weekend for the British team.
Norris knows a British Grand Prix win is a must
Lando Norris shared his enthusiasm about racing in front of a home crowd, making it clear how much this event means to him personally and professionally: “This is the home race for both myself and McLaren. Silverstone is already a special circuit in its own right, but having my family, my friends, the British fans, and so many McLaren team members here to support us makes the experience even more exciting.”
Lando Norris also gave a shout-out to his personal grandstand at the circuit—affectionately named the “Landostand”—which is expected to be packed with fans donning his signature fluorescent colors: “I’ll try to give a wave to the fans as I go by, especially to those in my Landostand. I can’t wait to see it lit up in neon colors.”
Team Principal Andrea Stella highlights Silverstone’s importance for McLaren
Andrea Stella, the Team Principal of the McLaren Formula 1 Team, also emphasized how significant the British Grand Prix is for everyone at McLaren, both at the track and back at the factory in Woking.
“This weekend is truly special for us, because it’s the home race not just for the team, but also for Lando. It’s always a fantastic moment to see so many of our colleagues and fans dressed in papaya filling the grandstands. We hope to deliver a result they can celebrate this weekend.”
Andrea Stella also took the opportunity to reflect on the team’s progress during the first half of the 2025 Formula 1 season: “We’ve officially reached the halfway point of the 2025 Formula 1 season. It’s a great moment to acknowledge the hard work that has brought us to the top of both championships. At the same time, we recognize how tough the competition is around us. We will keep focusing on ourselves and on our performance, knowing that the rest of the season will demand every ounce of our effort during this incredibly competitive phase of Formula 1.”
