
The entry list for the 2025 F1 season has been finalized: Gabriel Bortoleto, the new Sauber driver, has chosen Sebastian Vettel’s number. The Brazilian, in his first year in the Circus after winning the Formula 2 championship, will sport the #5. Also confirmed are #12 for Andrea Kimi Antonelli at Mercedes, #7 for Jack Doohan at Alpine, and #87 for Oliver Bearman at Haas.
The grid for the 2025 Formula 1 season is taking shape. Last winter, there were no changes to the list of drivers in the top series, which was a rare occurrence. Just twelve months later, old habits are returning: four rookies – potentially five with the entry of Isack Hadjar – and as many drivers changing teams.
Lewis Hamilton is moving to Ferrari, bringing Carlos Sainz to Williams. Esteban Ocon joins Haas with Oliver Bearman, while Nico Hulkenberg moves to Sauber alongside Gabriel Bortoleto. In Mercedes, the very Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli joins, while Alpine focuses on young Australian Jack Doohan.

In the entry list released by the International Federation, the mystery surrounding the race numbers has also been resolved. Andrea Kimi Antonelli keeps #12, after a brief rivalry with Jack Doohan, who will “settle” for #7. Oliver Bearman chooses #87, while Gabriel Bortoleto brings the #5 back to Formula 1, a sweet reminder of Sebastian Vettel’s hopeful years at Ferrari.
Also confirmed is a change in team name: Visa Cash App Racing Bulls officially becomes “Racing Bulls” on the chassis (keeping the extended name for the official team name).
