Max Verstappen never misses a chance to turn provocation into spectacle. After being compared by Zak Brown to the famous horror character “Chucky,” the four-time world champion received a Funko Pop of the sinister doll… and his reaction, mixing irony with playful jabs, quickly went viral.
From McLaren nightmare to pop culture icon
If it had not been for Max Verstappen, McLaren would probably have secured the Drivers’ Championship without too much stress. Instead, the Dutch driver, competitive like few others in Formula 1 history, dragged Red Bull all the way to the final round, forcing Lando Norris to fight until the very end for a title decided by just two points.
The Woking-based team was also able to rely on strong teamwork from Oscar Piastri in Abu Dhabi, a decisive move that helped seal the championship.
Despite driving a car that was considered inferior to the MCL39, Max Verstappen ended the season with eight victories — more than any other driver — confirming a predatory instinct that kept constant pressure on McLaren. It is therefore no surprise that Zak Brown jokingly labelled him “Chucky,” the horror doll that terrorises its victims on the big screen.
Max Verstappen had already responded calmly to the joke:
“He can call me Chucky! I saw what Zak said. I found it quite funny.”
The hilarious reaction to the gift
During the traditional Christmas Secret Santa, the Dutch driver received a Chucky Funko Pop. The moment, filmed and shared by Red Bull, immediately became a cult scene:
“What is this? Chucky! My God, this is fantastic. I’ll put it on the bed. On the pillow, to be precise. Or maybe I’ll send it to Zak Brown. I need to think carefully before deciding.”
Between laughter and provocation, Max Verstappen once again showed his ability to play with the narrative surrounding him, turning a creepy nickname into a moment of pure entertainment for Formula 1 fans.
Max Verstappen’s lighthearted reaction to receiving a “Chucky” doll during the F1 Secret Santa highlights his ability to turn rivalries into entertainment, showing that despite a grueling 2025 title fight with McLaren, he can still laugh at Zak Brown‘s provocations.
