Max Verstappen dominates Las Vegas GP: “We’ll take it one race at a time”

Max Verstappen claimed a commanding victory at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Lando Norris and George Russell, narrowing the championship gap. However, with just two races remaining, the dream of a world title appears increasingly difficult. After a start in which he overtook championship leader Norris, Verstappen emerged from Turn 1 in the lead and never looked back. The Red Bull RB21 confirmed its strong performance expectations, dominating a race without any real challengers. The excellent chassis and specially designed aerodynamic package for the high-speed Las Vegas circuit gave a significant boost to a car that had grown considerably after a challenging start to the season.

With only two races left, the gap to Norris remains large, and the world title seems to be slipping away, but the final verdict will have to wait until Abu Dhabi.

Verstappen on the race: “Everything went very well”

Speaking after the Las Vegas race, Max Verstappen commented on his performance:

“It went well. Clearly, after practice we didn’t know exactly how the tyres would behave, and even during the race you could see that everyone was trying to find their rhythm and understand how much they could push, especially in the first stint because we were on the softer compounds.
Everything went very well: normally this track is difficult for us and we aren’t exceptional at tyre management, but today we managed to control things, push a little more, and had a good pace. I was able to extend the first stint and split the race into two halves.
The car worked very well; I liked it much more today, and in the end we had a decent advantage. Lap after lap, I felt more and more comfortable, without having to overuse the tyres.”

Championship focus: “We’ll see in Abu Dhabi”

When asked about the drivers’ championship, the four-time world champion replied:

“I think taking it one race at a time is the best approach. I still have a large gap, but we’ll try to make the most of it.
It has been a season with many ups and downs, difficult moments but also some amazing ones. We’ve learned a lot over the year, and that is valuable for the future as well. It’s something to hold onto to keep improving and come back even stronger next year, aiming to fight for the championship from the very beginning. We’ll see next week.”
