Max Verstappen continues to dominate in F1, but is his success solely due to Red Bull? This is a question many fans keep asking, one intrinsically tied to the status of being a “dominator” in the sport. The importance of the machinery cannot be denied: with a slow car, consistent victories are nearly impossible. But are the Dutchman’s four titles solely the result of Milton Keynes?
After the era dominated by Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen is the new marquee name in Formula 1. Having won the last four drivers’ championships, the Dutchman is steadily securing his place among motorsport’s legends. Aggressive, daring, and almost always brilliant—even when circumstances seem unfavorable—he is arguably the standout talent of his generation.
Yet, the question arises: if someone else were in his place at Red Bull, would they have achieved the same results? A definitive answer from the outside is impossible. Many talented drivers could have shone in the RB18 or RB19, but it’s hard to determine how many would have shown the same consistency as Max Verstappen.
Valtteri Bottas: “Verstappen is incredibly fast, but he will need the right car”
Speaking to *RacingNews365*, Valtteri Bottas attempted to explain what makes Max Verstappen a champion: “It’s hard to fight against him. He leaves no room, and you know he’ll never lift off the throttle. Everyone knows that when they race against him. He’s a very consistent driver who no longer makes mistakes, unlike when he started his career, but that’s natural.”
“He’s very fast, he has talent, and now he also has experience and confidence. That makes him a really tough driver to beat. It’s clear that in the future, he’ll also need a good car, and we’ve already seen that this year.”
“His consistency [is his greatest strength]: he can deliver a perfect lap in any condition, and his racecraft is extraordinary—he’s always very intelligent. Overall, he’s a very complete driver, which is why he’s already won so many titles in Formula 1.”
