Championship leader Lando Norris finished the Bahrain Grand Prix on the third step of the podium, behind Oscar Piastri and George Russell. However, the Sakhir race was very challenging for the Briton. He was penalised even before the start for incorrect grid positioning.
After completing the 57 laps and returning to the pit lane, he was interviewed by Formula 1’s microphones. Below are the words of the British driver.
Lando Norris said: “It was a tough race. I made a lot of mistakes during overtakes and was out of position at the start. It’s disappointing not to get a one-two for McLaren here at our home race, but there were also some positives.”
The Briton continued: “It was a fun race, with some nice overtakes. Everyone raced hard, but still within limits. It was a good race overall.”
Speaking about his battle with George Russell, the McLaren driver concluded by saying: “He did a great job. I thought I’d be able to pass him, but he clearly saved something for the end and did really well. Congratulations to George and the whole McLaren team. I’ll try to improve for next weekend.”
