Lando Norris Prime Video documentary confirmed for 2027 release

Lando Norris, 2025 F1

Lando Norris will be the subject of a new Prime Video documentary series scheduled for release in 2027, giving Formula 1 fans a closer look at the reigning world champion’s life and career away from the circuit. Produced by Box to Box Films, the company behind Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive to Survive, the project arrives during an extraordinary period for the McLaren driver both on and off the track.

There is little doubt that Lando Norris is enjoying a golden period in his career. First came two Constructors’ Championships with McLaren, quickly followed by the 2025 Drivers’ Championship, secured after an unexpected comeback against team-mate Oscar Piastri and a successful defence against Max Verstappen’s late challenge.

That momentum has continued into 2026. McLaren has transformed the competitive picture after a difficult start to the season, helping Lando Norris win the last two races in Budapest and Zandvoort. His Dutch Grand Prix victory strengthened McLaren’s resurgence and added another highlight to an already remarkable period.

It has also been capped by a long-term commitment to the team that brought him into Formula 1. Lando Norris has signed a new McLaren contract running until at least the end of 2030, effectively extending the relationship between the 26-year-old from Bristol and the Woking team for much of his foreseeable F1 career. Now the reigning champion has added another major project by announcing a documentary series about his life and career on Amazon Prime Video.

Lando Norris announces new Prime Video documentary

Lando Norris personally confirmed the project through his social media channels. Appearing in a video while holding a professional camera, the British driver explained that filming has already been taking place during the current Formula 1 season.

“You may already have seen me with this camera over the course of this season and now I have some fantastic news to share. We are filming a documentary, in collaboration with Prime Video, which will take you deep into my life, all of my life away from the track and therefore those things that you will never see on TV.

“Maybe some of you will remember that, during my career, I have made personal videos in which I tried to take you behind the scenes. But this project is much bigger, much better and this is my opportunity to share more with you, who are part of this journey. You are always there supporting me every weekend and you are basically the reason why I do all of this.”

The project will therefore explore aspects of Lando Norris’s world that go beyond what fans normally see during a Formula 1 race weekend. His growing international profile has accompanied his rise from promising McLaren youngster to world champion, while his performances remain central to the 2026 Formula 1 championship battle.

When will ‘Lando’ be released on Prime Video?

The documentary series currently carries the working title Lando and will be available to subscribers of Amazon’s Prime Video streaming platform. The series is produced by Box to Box Films, the same production company that reshaped the modern sports-documentary format with Formula 1: Drive to Survive.

The Netflix series recounts the events of the previous Formula 1 season each year, albeit in a somewhat dramatised style that has not always been appreciated by the sport’s more traditional fans. Nevertheless, Drive to Survive has achieved unprecedented audience success, particularly in the United States, and has played an important role in expanding Formula 1’s reach to new viewers.

Lando Norris himself has also benefited from the global popularity generated by the personalities and storylines featured in Drive to Survive, and the McLaren driver is actively involved in his new Prime Video project.

Prime Video’s growing motorsport documentary catalogue

The Lando Norris docuseries joins a Prime Video catalogue that already includes several documentary productions focused on motorsport. Among them is MotoGP Unlimited, effectively MotoGP’s answer to Drive to Survive, although that series ended after its first season.

Prime Video has also released Formula E Driver, which follows the electric world championship from the perspective of several of its leading figures, as well as the 2017 production Le Mans: Racing Is Everything.

Other projects are even closer in format to the new Lando Norris series. Fernando followed Fernando Alonso through his sabbatical away from Formula 1, including his adventures at Le Mans and the Dakar Rally, before documenting his return to the F1 paddock with Alpine.

Sainz: Live to Compete focuses on the achievements of Carlos Sainz Sr, while Marc Marquez: ALL IN explores the MotoGP champion’s physical struggles following the serious injury he suffered in 2020.

Lando Norris will now become the latest major motorsport figure to receive that behind-the-scenes treatment. With his world championship success, McLaren’s renewed competitiveness and his long-term future with the team already secured, Lando is expected to arrive on Prime Video in 2027.
