Lando Norris has become the 2025 F1 World Champion and shared what makes him even prouder of this achievement.
The British driver was crowned 2025 Formula 1 World Champion, edging out Max Verstappen by just two points, thanks in part to his strategic third-place finish at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Lando Norris’ race was a masterclass in strategy, overtaking, and key moments, with even a small scare for the McLaren team.
The 26-year-old drove exceptionally well, avoiding unnecessary risks and maintaining calm under pressure. With a combination of smart decisions and precise overtakes, Norris remained true to himself. Unlike many drivers competing for the championship in the final race, he did not become overly aggressive; he raced his usual way. In the end, this approach paid off, and his name was officially added to the list of Formula 1 World Champions.
The pride of Norris
In his solo post-race press conference, the McLaren driver admitted there were moments when he could have been more aggressive in the battle. Yet he is satisfied with remaining true to himself and winning this year’s championship.
“This is one of the things that makes me most proud,” Lando Norris said just after being crowned World Champion. “I feel like I was able to win in the way I wanted. And not by trying to be someone I’m not—being aggressive like Max, or energetic like all the champions of the past… whatever that may be.” – the British driver pointed out.
“I’m happy. I won it my way. I’m glad I was able to be myself and win ‘the Lando way,’ as Andrea [Stella] would say,” added the 26-year-old. “At the start, could I have entered the track and been more like the person you probably wanted me to be? At times, I could have. But in a way, I would have been less proud.”
“That’s why I’m very happy with myself, because I stayed calm. I continued focusing on myself and got the most out of the person I am.” – he added.
“I really hope nothing changes in how I do things, in my mindset or my approach. I believe I won the championship this year my way, as a fair driver, trying to be an honest competitor,” concluded the British driver.
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has repeatedly called it “winning like Lando”. Now the whole world knows exactly what that means – and it’s champion of the world.
