Car in the gravel amid laughter, but Lance Stroll defends himself
After getting out of his Aston Martin and returning to the paddock, Lance Stroll sought to explain what happened. “It was strange. As soon as I touched the brakes, I felt a strong rear lockup. From that moment, I became a passenger in my car,” he told the media.
For the Montreal driver, the sensation he experienced during the formation lap at the 4.309-kilometre Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Brazil was unprecedented. “I’d never noticed that problem before. Maybe there was an issue with the brakes, and we need to analyze the situation.”
Fernando Alonso defends Lance Stroll
Fernando Alonso backed up Lance Stroll’s statements, having experienced a challenging Brazil GP himself. “I think Lance had a problem on the formation lap. I had something similar after each restart. After every restart, the brake balance shifted completely to the rear. It felt like braking with a handbrake. It was a nightmare.”
