Andrea Kimi Antonelli is set to make his debut at the legendary Interlagos Circuit for the Brazilian Grand Prix. The young Mercedes driver arrives in São Paulo after an impressive performance in Mexico, where he finished ahead of teammate George Russell. Determined to continue his strong form, Kimi Antonelli is now aiming to score vital points that could help Mercedes reclaim second place in the Constructors’ Championship.
“I can’t wait to get on track, it looks like a circuit that’s really fun to drive,” Kimi Antonelli said. “It’s a Sprint weekend, so the goal is to find confidence quickly and be fast right from the start. The weather is always unpredictable in Brazil, so we’ll have to adapt to whatever comes.”
The Italian talent appears to have left behind a difficult period he experienced mid-season, when the pressure of debuting with a top team began to take its toll. “To be honest, it wasn’t an easy period,” he admitted. “Making my debut with a top team adds even more pressure, but it’s been an experience that really shaped me. I hope I won’t have to face similar challenges again, but if I do, I know I’ll handle them better thanks to what I’ve learned.”
When asked how close he feels to matching his more experienced teammate, Kimi Antonelli offered a mature and self-aware answer. “In terms of pure speed, I think we’re on the same level,” he explained. “The difference is that George manages to put everything together perfectly, and that’s mainly down to his experience. That’s what I’m still working on—bringing everything together over a full weekend.”
As he prepares for his first race at Interlagos, Kimi Antonelli’s confidence and composure show that he’s quickly adapting to life in Formula 1. The Brazilian Grand Prix will be another important milestone in his rookie season, and a strong performance could confirm that Mercedes’ faith in the young Italian was well placed.
