The 2025 Alpine team lineup consists of Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan, but the young Australian’s future has been under intense scrutiny for months. Rumors suggest that Flavio Briatore has given him only a few race weekends to prove himself and convince management to keep him on the main team. Meanwhile, Franco Colapinto has been hired as a reserve driver, with the possibility of being promoted if the need arises.
Ralf Schumacher, interviewed by Sky Deutschland, painted an even more uncertain picture for Jack Doohan. According to the former German driver, the Australian’s contract might only be valid for his home race, the Melbourne Grand Prix. Here are his comments:
“Jack Doohan probably didn’t impress much during testing, and from what I’ve heard, he could be replaced soon. Flavio Briatore is aware of this and could decide to drop him after Melbourne. Jack doesn’t seem to have a bright future ahead of him. Now he has to give his all to secure his place in Formula 1. He could emerge as a surprise in the early rounds, but for now, I think it’s unlikely.”
So, we’ll have to wait another week to see how the Alpine rookie performs at the Albert Park circuit and what his future in Formula 1 will look like.
