Hot Radio
In the upcoming 2025 Formula 1 season, it will be worth keeping an eye on the team radios at Racing Bulls, as some rather “interesting” situations could arise.
Alongside Yuki Tsunoda—who has never hesitated to vent his frustrations over the radio, whether towards engineers, teammates, or rivals—rookie Isack Hadjar will be joining the team. The 2024 Formula 2 runner-up, behind Brazilian Bortoleto, has gained a reputation in the junior category for his fiery team radios, which have earned him a few reprimands from Red Bull management, including Helmut Marko and Christian Horner.
Warnings from the Bosses
“Isack is fast, but he needs to keep his emotions in check,” said the 81-year-old Austrian manager in an episode of the *Inside Line F1* podcast before Isack Hadjar was officially confirmed as a Racing Bulls driver. “A good example is Monte Carlo: under the Safety Car, a driver suddenly appeared in front of him, and he kept complaining on the radio. That driver had cold tires—he should have tried to overtake him instead of making a fuss over the radio.” Christian Horner also described the Frenchman as “a rather emotional communicator.” – he pointed out.
In an interview with the French newspaper *L’Équipe*, Isack Hadjar admitted to being overly hot-tempered in the car but dismissed the idea that it could be an issue in F1: “Yes, being angry on the radio is a weakness for some,” acknowledged the French rookie, “but for me, it’s not important. I’m aware of what I do and why I do it. But I understand [their point of view]. This year, I’ll avoid it, that’s all. I’ll scream alone in my car, and no one will hear me,” he concluded with a joke.
