Max Verstappen once again proved to be incredibly strong, perhaps the strongest on the current Formula 1 grid. In the 2024 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix, the Dutch driver delivered a memorable performance, starting from 17th position on the grid.
Sunday at the 4.309-kilometre Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Brazil was challenging for everyone. The qualifying session took place on race day, after nearly two hours of waiting on Saturday afternoon, was certainly complex for all drivers. Moreover, the reduced visibility and the poor drainage system of the new asphalt at Interlagos made the Brazilian weekend quite complicated.
Max Verstappen and his return to the top of the podium as a champion
The amount of water on the circuit made life difficult for all. The two McLaren cars struggled significantly, while Ferrari managed to limit the damage with Charles Leclerc‘s performance, which secured a fifth-place finish that was invaluable after Carlos Sainz’s off-track incident.
Even Fernando Alonso, a veteran of F1, and Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, made mistakes. The Englishman ended his race in tenth place after a series of issues and complaints about his car.
In short, amidst the carousel of errors made by everyone, Max Verstappen (and the two Alpine cars, which showed a remarkable performance in the Brazilian Grand Prix) emerged unscathed, making no mistakes at all. Starting 17th and finishing the race as the winner is undoubtedly one of the comebacks that will remain etched in memory.
Nico Hulkenberg, who even received a black flag during the unfortunate Brazilian race, also expressed a judgment on the Dutchman that leaves no room for doubt. “In these conditions, it’s almost impossible not to make mistakes. It seems that only Max Verstappen can do it.” – he pointed out. This statement perhaps summarizes all of Max Verstappen’s strength, as he approaches his fourth Formula 1 world title.
