Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished the Hungarian Grand Prix in tenth place: his assessment of the first half of the season
At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Andrea Kimi Antonelli managed to recover from a challenging qualifying session by finishing in the points with a tenth place, on a track that is demanding for tire management. The young Mercedes driver provided a detailed assessment of the first part of his debut season, highlighting critical issues and areas to improve ahead of the second half after the summer break.
For Antonelli, the initial part of his debut season has been uneven: after a decent start, difficulties have not been lacking, especially in the last few races, except for the high point of his podium finish in Canada. The same struggles appeared again in Hungary, particularly during qualifying. However, in the race, the Italian driver managed to limit the damage by securing points, while his teammate George Russell claimed a podium finish.
After the race, reflecting on the first part of the season, Kimi Antonelli said: “Certainly, it has been a very intense first half, in which at times I struggled a lot even to manage my energy. With the new suspension, I found it very difficult, both in terms of feeling and mentally.”
He continued: “I have to say that I even started doubting myself, but I’m very happy that with the old suspension the feeling is coming back. I consider this a new starting point, especially for a fresh start after the summer break.”
