New home, same unrelenting passion. Honda has officially stepped into the future of Formula 1, embracing the challenge of the revolutionary 2026 technical regulations alongside Aston Martin. This partnership marks another high-stakes “bet” for the Japanese manufacturer following their triumphant and trophy-laden era with Red Bull.
Just a few moments ago, via their official social media channels, the Silverstone-based squad released a special audio clip: the first “fire-up” of the new 2026 power unit, proudly branded by Honda, which will power the upcoming AMR26. This moment signals the beginning of a new chapter for both the manufacturer and the team.

The video, released by Lawrence Stroll’s team, offers a glimpse into the intense preparation happening behind the scenes at the state-of-the-art AMR Technology Campus.
“A new era comes to life,” the British team emphasized, highlighting the sheer scale of the challenge awaiting Formula 1 teams in the coming years. Everything is set to change, and the power units will be completely overhauled. Starting in 2026, the engines will feature a nearly 50/50 split between internal combustion power and electrical hybrid energy.
To ensure they hit the ground running, Aston Martin has spared no expense. They are banking on the unparalleled experience of Fernando Alonso and the technical genius of Adrian Newey. By 2026, Newey will not only lead the technical department but will also step into the role of Team Principal, overseeing the squad’s championship ambitions.
Fans won’t have to wait much longer for more details. The Honda engine will be officially presented to the world on January 20th in Tokyo. Meanwhile, the AMR26—the very first car designed under the full influence of Adrian Newey—will be unveiled during the team’s launch event on February 6th.
